What Is The Taj Mahal?

Taj Mahal is related to the sad but beautiful love story. If the Taj Mahal wasn’t there, it could easily be considered that the story of its construction is a fairy tale.

Three hundred years ago India was ruled by Shah Jehan. His favorite wife was beautiful and smart, so he liked to be not separated from her, so he declared her for his advisor. She was called the Taj Mahal, which means “the pride of the palace”.

In 1630. his beloved wife died. He was so heartbroken that he thought to leave the throne. He decided to raise his beloved wife the most beautiful monument that ever existed.

He invited the best artists and architects from India, Turkey, Iran and Arabia to draft the monument. More than twenty thousand people worked over eighteen years to build the Taj Mahal, one of the most beautiful buildings in the world.

The building is located on a square marble pedestal bases, seven meters high. The minarets, or a towers, rising on all four corners, and the building itself is 60 meters high. It is an octagonal building of white marble, adorned with twelve kinds of semi-precious stones in the shape of flowers and inscriptions from the Koran in black marble ( since the emperor was Muslim religion ).

Building materials derived from many countries, from Arabia , Egypt, Tibet and various parts of India.

The emperor planned to build the exact same mausoleum for himself, but in black marble on the other side of the river, across which led the bridge built of pure silver. However, before the construction of the Taj Mahal was completed, he was locked in the castle by his son, where he remained until the end of life, looking across the river at the mausoleum of the woman he loved.
